FORT COLLINS, Colo.—The man accused of helping stage a hoax by reporting his son was aboard a runaway balloon has pleaded guilty to a felony charge in the case.
Richard Heene appeared in court Friday to enter his plea to the only charge filed against him, attempting to influence a public servant.
His wife Mayumi Heene was also expected to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of false reporting.
Heene faces the possibility of serving probation and up to 90 days in jail as well as repaying the costs for the search for his son.
