South Main homes are mostly brightly colored with metal roofs and feature "traditional" architecture according to Jed Selby, president of South Main Company. The development of South Main has brought change to the small mountain town of Buena Vista in the last five years and has received mixed reactions. The brightly colored, two and three-story Victorian-style homes that are tightly clumped together next to the public riverfront trails and bouldering park are alien to this frumpy town. Some locals welcome the shift in culture, while others are keeping a wary eye on the development. The brother-sister developer team of Jed and Katie Selby is seeking to bring a tight-knit sense of community to the area by the river.
