DENVER—Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tom Preissing will make his season debut Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks as he returns from a right knee injury.

The Avalanche also will have back forward Milan Hejduk, who’s missed the last two games with a balky back.

Preissing missed the entire preseason after having a scope done on the knee. He recently completed a two-game conditioning assignment with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL.

The 30-year-old Preissing was acquired, along with defenseman Kyle Quincey, in a deal that sent Ryan Smyth to the Los Angeles Kings last July.

Preissing is a former standout at nearby Colorado College.
