Walk a mile … or 8,000

The Denver-based Cunningham Foundation will hold a walk-athon fundraiser this week to provide children of Yete- bon, Ethiopia, with meals, school supplies and clothing. Gov. Bill Ritter kicks off the event by walking the first mile on a treadmill at the State Capitol this morning. The foundation, started by Noel and Tammy Cunningham of Strings Restaurant, is challenging individuals, schools and businesses to participate in the event by securing pledges for each mile walked, run or jogged during that week. When the foundation has enough pledges to cover the entire 8,325 miles from Denver to Yetebon, Ritter will challenge the governors of the other 49 states to participate in the effort. , 303-877-7072
