Zach Thenell threw for five touchdowns and 228 yards Saturday, hitting Armoni Brewington for three TDs, as Bear Creek rolled to a 49-6 win over Thomas Jefferson in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Brewington had five catches for 120 yards. Tailback Lukas Lockett rushed for 96 yards and two TDs and caught a TD pass for the 22nd-seeded Bears, who led 35-0 at halftime.
ThunderRidge 31, Cherry Creek 19
Derek Munsey scored two of ThunderRidge’s four rushing touchdowns and gained 183 yards as the Grizzlies bolted to a 31-7 lead. In his final game for Cherry Creek, Stanford-bound quarterback Kain Colter threw for two TDs and ran for another TD.
Columbine 21, Chaparral 13
The Rebels trailed 13-7 at halftime but got touchdown runs of 1 and 21 yards from Demetrius McDondle in the second half. Columbine’s defense forced Chaparral to fumble on the first two possessions of the second half.
