BRUSH — DaNelle Hagan was just having a Saturday morning cup of coffee. It was shaping up to be a morning like any other: some cereal for her 9-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, and some time on her computer.
Then she heard a huge explosion after something fell out of the sky right into her kitchen. Hagan was not sitting in the room. The two of them had just left the kitchen and no one in the home was injured.
“It was just bizarre,” Hagan said, “I heard a huge explosion, couldn’t figure out if something had crashed in or exploded out and (it was) just complete chaos after that.”
It turns out a piece of ice, a bowling-ball-size piece, fell from the sky.
“Everybody seems to think that it was (from) an airplane flying over the area,” Hagan said.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating and told 9News the scenario is rare, but possible, sometimes ice forms on the outside of the plane – either because of a leak or weather conditions
“It looks like a bomb went off,” Hagan said.
