STRASBURG — A volunteer firefighter who struck and killed a 14-year-old girl on a bike while he was driving to a fire station will not be charged with careless driving.
The Adams County district attorney’s office instead requested a speeding ticket and an obstructed-windshield citation for Cory Linnebur, 23, of Strasburg. The decision, outlined in a Nov. 10 letter to the Colorado State Patrol, comes over four months after the June 29 crash that killed Justine Little.
Troopers allowed Linnebur to drive his pickup to the fire station after the crash despite his admission that he was speeding and had mud on his windshield. He was not ticketed at the time.
Members of the Little family told 9Wants to Know in August that they suspected the State Patrol was covering for a fellow emergency responder.
