Getting your player ready...

Steve Haskins shot a bogey-free 6-under 65 on Wednesday to take a two-stroke lead over five players after the second round of the Champions Tour National Qualifying Tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Haskins, the 51-year-old son of late Hall of Fame basketball coach Don Haskins, had an 11-under 131 total on TPC Champions Course.

Colorado Springs native R.W. Eaks is at 4-under after a second-round 72, and Gary Hallberg of Castle Rock is 3-over, following an opening 68 with a 77.

At the end of four rounds, the top five finishers will be fully exempt for the 2010 season, while the next seven will be conditionally exempt.

CSU’s Fairchild sticks with Stucker.

Colorado State coach Steve Fairchild reconfirmed Grant Stucker will retain his starting job at quarterback. Also, defensive end Cory Macon has missed some practice this week following a minor accident last weekend but Fairchild expects him to play Saturday at New Mexico. Senior offensive tackle Cole Pemberton remains questionable with a sore ankle. Mark Starr and Paul Madsen, who split time at opposite tackle, will both play, and Fairchild wants reserve Ryan Griffith to rotate in if Pemberton can’t play.
