Steve Farber is feeling like a star.
The political powerhouse attorney had a kidney transplant in 2003 — and recorded the turmoil in his recently published book “On the List.”
Now comes word that former Denver bigshot Charlie Lyons, now a Hollywood bigshot as CEO of Beacon Pictures, wants to make a movie of Farber’s book.
Farber sent Lyons an early draft of his story — and Lyons immediately called Farber to say, “I want to make the movie.”
Lyons has made more than 20 films, including “The Departed,” “Air Force One” and “Bring It On.”
Lyons was in town last weekend for the Wings Over the Rockies gala honoring his pal Harrison Ford — and Lyons and Farber met to discuss the movie deal before the party. “We’ll meet again in the next month or so,” says Farber. Then, it’s “Action!”
So far, says Farber, no one is sure if it would be a feature or an HBO movie. And no stars are attached — though George Clooney might play a great Farber. Or Larry David.
Sneaky.
The Starz Denver Film Festival offers up a sneak peak feature film at 4 p.m. Sunday at the King Center. The news release says it’s “on a clear runway to the Oscars” and that it’s “one cinematic flight not to miss.” Which makes one think it might be “Up in the Air” — the big-buzz Christmas Day flick starring Clooney, directed by Jason Reitman. Jewish Family Service every December presents Reel Hope, a movie fundraiser at $180 per ticket (free popcorn!). This year it’ll be “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” — the vampire flick. Don’t ask me. Call 303-597-5000, ext. 308.
And the Denver Film Society presents its sneak peak at “Nine” on Dec. 9 at the Ellie, a benefit for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. Call Ellen Robinson at 303-698-1151.
Blind date.
Dakota Ridge High School senior Conner Cordova has a monster crush on Maxim model and Ultimate Fighting Ring Card Girl Arianny Celeste. He’s made three YouTube videos proclaiming his affection in the hopes that she’ll come to the senior prom April 10 (check out “Arianny go to prom with me” at ). Celeste is aware of the videos, says Cordova, and he awaits her video reply next week.
Why Celeste?
“I am a teeth person, and she has great teeth,” says Cordova.
And if she says no?
“It would take a few months to recover from that devastating punch to my heart.”
Celeste may not be the hottest model to appear in Maxim, but Cordova and I agree she would be the hottest date at the prom.
City spirit.
