Thornton restaurant owner Dan Tang pleaded guilty this morning to laundering money to fund a marijuana growing operation.
Tang, who runs the Heaven Dragon restaurant, entered the plea in U.S. District Court in Denver.
His attorney, Michael Axt, declined to comment about why Tang decided to plead guilty. He did not allow Tang to talk to reporters.
Prosecutors are recommending a prison term ranging from 11 to 30 months, though Tang could be eligible for home confinement for part or all of that sentence.
However, Chief U.S. District Judge Wiley Y. Daniel indicated that the sentencing guidelines, which are advisory, say Tang could face between 70 and 87 months in prison.
A sentencing hearing is set for 10 a.m. on Feb. 11.
