Attention, painters, quilters, photographers, sculptors and other artists: You’ve got a year to submit entries for the 2011 exhibit “Castlewood Canyon through the Seasons.” The deadline is Nov. 15, 2010. All works must portray aspects of the park, which includes the historic Lucas homestead, landscapes and the ruins of the Castlewood Dam. Chosen works will be displayed next winter at The Wildlife Experience.

A dog’s life.

Diagnosed recently with bone cancer, a Summit County Alaskan malamute named Bennie and her owner are facing $10,000 in medical bills, including the fee for amputating one of Bennie’s legs. To help with expenses, Clint’s owner, Laura Komeshian, is offering $5 bags of dog treats through the winter.
