Working to turn the tide

At first, all the grim statistics and sobering examples that journalist Lisa Ling shared at a fundraising luncheon put on by the Women’s Foundation of Colorado seemed to indicate that such issues as poverty, abuse and sexual trafficking are so prevalent, so ingrained, that they’re indeed hopeless causes. Not so. “Now that you know, you can’t pretend that you don’t,” she said, challenging the 2,000 guests to “do something, even if it’s something small.” Joanne Davidson has a full report in her Seen First blog: .


That’s Italian!

Palazzo Verdi and Mangia Bevi Cafe are about as close to Italy as one can get, at least in the Greenwood Village city limits. And they made for a beautiful backdrop last week when Anna and John Sie hosted a reception in honor of Gianni Di Gregorio, recipient of the 2009 Maria and Tommaso Maglione Italian Filmmaker Award. The award is named for Anna Sie’s parents and is presented each year during the Starz Denver Film Festival.
