Six teenagers were hurt in a single-car crash on Interstate 70 near Rifle Tuesday afternoon.

The driver, Juan Moreno-Zavala, 17, of Glenwood Springs, and three passengers — ages 19, 17 and 16 — were airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction after the crash just before 1 p.m.

All were in serious condition this evening, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Two other passengers, ages 16 and 15, sustained minor injuries, according to the Patrol.

The silver 1998 Nissan Sentra was speeding on I-70 went the driver lost control and ran off the road, through a deer fence and went airborne over a dry creek bed, troopers said.

The car then hit the side of the embankment and rolled over.
