Four people were taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure shortly after noon today when a car failed to yield to an ambulance on an emergency run, said Aurora Police Lt. Chuck DeShazer.

The Rural Metro Ambulance and the Nissan Xterra slid into an RTD bus, a sport-utility vehicle and two cars, he said.

The ambulance was going east on Mississippi Avenue and had on its lights and sirens, DeShazer said. The ambulance was on its way to a call, and did not have a patient onboard.

No one on the bus was hurt, but crew members in the ambulance, a person in the Xterra and a person in one of the cars had slight injuries, DeShazer said.

He said the Nissan’s driver would be cited for failing to yield to the ambulance.
