A pedestrian was struck and killed about 10:14 p.m. Monday at East 69th Avenue and Highway 85 in Commerce City.
The Commerce City police said this morning that when they arrived, they found the pedestrian lying in the intersection. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Commerce City police officer Christian Rasmussen, an investigation showed that the man was crossing Highway 85 westbound when he was struck by a white Chevrolet 2500 pickup, which was northbound on Highway 85.
The driver of the pickup told investigators he had the green light and the pedestrian walk out in front of him, directly into the path of the vehicle.
Rasmussen said the investigation is on-going. Names of those involved will not be released until next of kin are notified, said Rasmussen. Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com
