BAGHDAD — At least 10 people were reported killed Wednesday in Iraq, including four who perished in twin bombings near a revered Shiite shrine in Karbala.

The other six were members of a family whose home north of Baghdad was raided overnight by suspected insurgents, authorities said.

The attacks unfolded amid growing political uncertainty over the fate of an election law that parliament approved this week over strong objections from some Sunnis.

U.S. and Iraqi officials have said they expect violence in southern Iraq as rival Shiite parties vie for standing ahead of national elections expected to take place early next year.
