FRISCO — A thin snowpack has led to snowmobiling limits in the Vail Pass winter recreation area.

The U.S. Forest Service has decided to restrict snowmobiles to designated Forest Service roads in the 50,000-acre area until more snow falls.

Winter park fees take effect today.

The recreation area extends from Copper Mountain on the east to Vail Mountain on the west, Camp Hale on the south and I-70 on the north.
