GEORGETOWN, Colo.—The family of a 16-year-old girl raped and killed in 1976 isn’t satisfied with the 24-year sentence for her killer.

Fifty-four-year-old Ricky Lee Harnish apologized to the family of Holly Marie Andrews during a court hearing in Georgetown Monday.

Harnish got the maximum sentence allowed under his plea deal, which also required him to give an honest confession about how he killed Andrews. As her family watched, Harnish said he stabbed her and that Andrews said “You killed me” as she drew her last breath.

Andrews’ family says the sentence isn’t long enough given that they had to wait 33 years for justice.

District Attorney Mark Hurlbert says the family may never have learned the details of the murder had the case gone to trial.
