MANILA, Philippines — Prosecutors have filed murder charges against the heir of a powerful clan in the massacre of 57 people in a convoy, including journalists and the family and supporters of an election candidate.
Prosecutor Al Calica said today that at least 10 witnesses will testify to seeing Andal Ampatuan Jr. leading the gunmen, including police officers, when they stopped the convoy Nov. 23.
Ampatuan turned himself in last week and denied the charges.
