Lafayette police are looking for a man who might have tried to abduct two young girls Monday.
The girls, ages 11 and 8, were walking near Avalon Avenue and Shallot Circle at about 4:15 p.m. Monday, when a man in a light blue or gray minivan got out and approached them.
The girls said they were talking about walking in the mud, and the man ask them if they were “stepping in blood” and that he “never hurt anyone here before,” according to a statement from police.
The girls told police that as they ran away the man lunged at them.
He was described as being in his mid- to late-40s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with short gray hair and a long full gray beard.
He was wearing black pants, a black T-shirt and black boots, police said.
Anyone with information can call 303-665-5571.
