The second of two former University of Colorado football players sentenced in January to more than five years in prison for burglary was released from prison Tuesday and ordered to serve five years of probation instead.
Former CU quarterback Bernard Jackson, 24, who has served about a year and a half behind bars, was given the lesser sentence during a reconsideration hearing. His co-defendant, Lionel Harris, 24, was sentenced to probation last week.
Numerous friends spoke for Jackson during the hearing Tuesday, including Liz Polumbus, who offered her home in Highlands Ranch as a place for Jackson to stay.
