A 19-year-old driver traveling with two small children ran off Interstate 70 in Jefferson County and struck a Colorado State trooper’s cruiser this morning.
The driver, Shelbi Vickery of Evergreen and the trooper, Edward Taylor, sustained minor injuries and were treated at St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver. The two children in Vickery’s car were uninjured, according to the highway patrol.
The trooper was parked on the shoulder after assisting another driver, troopers said.
Vickery faces a charge of careless driving causing injury. Troopers do not think drugs or alcohol caused the crash, but that Vickery was going too fast on the snowy roads and lost control.
