Greeley police arrested a 45-year-old Greeley woman this afternoon on suspicion she arranged or conspired in her ex-husband’s murder in February.
Georgia Sue Watson was booked into the Weld County Jail on a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, police said. No bond has been set.
Her former husband, Jeffrey Watson Sr., 44, was shot multiple times in his truck in front of his Greeley home on Feb. 19.
A mechanic, Watson he was getting in his truck to go to work when he was shot through the doors and windows with a high-powered rifle in a drive-by or ambush-style killing, investigators said.
Two men were soon arrested: Cecil J. Erb, 27, and Justin James Brunner, 28.
Erb had been living at the same address as Georgia Sue Watson, who was the sole beneficiary of her ex-husband’s $110,000 life insurance policy, according to court records in the case.
Erb was arrested a day after the shooting in Dubuque, Iowa, and police found an assault rifle and ammunition in his car.
Greeley police have said Brunner was not present when the shooting occurred, but helped plan it. He also faces conspiracy charges.
Brunner and Erb previously served time in the Weld County Jail in 2006.
Court records indicate that Brunner has cooperated with police in their investigation.
Erb has long criminal record, including numerous assaults. In 2005 he was charged with making a false bomb threat at a Greeley post office.
No bomb was found, however, and Erb was charged with false reporting of explosives. He had been arrested and held on similar charges in Nebraska earlier.
Erb served 18 months in prison and was out on parole at the time of Watson’s shooting.
Booking photos of the three have not been released, and police said today that a third person, who was not named, is still being sought for questioning.
