DENVER—State officials says 14 grants totaling $1.5 million in federal stimulus funds have been awarded for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects across Colorado.
Recipients include Western State College in Gunnison, which is converting a gas boiler to one that uses biofuel. Another grant will allow an Alamosa farm to use solar power to offset irrigation costs.
The Governor’s Energy Office awarded the grants from a field of about 200 applicants seeking nearly $45 million. The office says the grants will be matched by more than $3.3 million in public and private funds.
There were three previous rounds of grants, and the office expects two more rounds.
