Two men have been arrested in the death of Susana Pelayo Perez, who was shot on Sept. 27 while riding in a car near the Shannon Glen Apartments in Colorado Springs.
The two men arrested Wednesday were identified by Colorado Springs police as Kyle Gray, 24, and Kandin Wilson, 28.
Perez, 35, was shot at 220 N. Murray Boulevard and then was immediately driven to Memorial Hospital, where she died.
At the time Perez was shot, the Colorado Springs Police Department released sketches of two men in the vehicle.
According to the witnesses, the suspect who fired the fatal shot was seated in the right-front passenger seat of a vehicle thought to be a red Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.
The sketch of the man seated in the passenger seat — released in October — bears a striking resemblance to Gray, who has many tattoos that feature symbology commonly associated with skinheads and white supremacists, including “SS” lightning bolts near one of his eyes.
The sketch of the driver, who witnesses said had a scruffy beard, bears a resemblance to Wilson.
Lt. David Whitlock, spokesman for the Colorado Springs Police Department, said that because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, all search and arrest warrants have been sealed. He said the police department is also not making any additional comments.
At the time of their arrests on Wednesday, Gray and Wilson, both of Colorado Springs, were being held in El Paso County on unrelated charges.
