DULUTH, Minn.—Jack Connolly and Mike Connolly had three points apiece Saturday as Minnesota-Duluth rolled over second-ranked Denver 6-3 to earn a split of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.
The WCHA-leading Pioneers opened the series with a 3-2 win on Friday, but the Bulldogs controlled the game from the opening faceoff.
Jack Connolly had two goals and an assist and Mike Connolly assisted on three goals for UMD (11-6-1, 8-5-1 WCHA). The Bulldogs led 3-1 after one period, then scored the game’s final three goals in the third period after Denver (11-5-2, 9-3-2) had tied it at 3-3 late in the second.
Wade Bergman, Travis Oleksuk and Kyle Schmidt scored against Denver’s Marc Cheverie (21 saves), who dropped to 9-2-1 on the season.
Brady Hjelle made 23 saves for the Bulldogs. He gave up goals to Tyler Ruegsegger, Matt Glasser and Anthony Maiani.
