Getting your player ready...

Schedule-makers clearly don’t have good fantasies. Football, of course.

Most Chris Johnson (Titans) owners in a head-to-head league were sitting pretty this week on a first-round bye, and were all settled in Sunday for a day of football without the desperate stat-watching and clicking the “refresh” button on the computer.

So what’s the top scorer do for the owners who have ridden him to success? Just put up nearly 200 yards of offense and three touchdowns.

You’re welcome.

The point? Johnson gets a salty Dolphins front seven this week, which should give the golden goose a slightly lower return at a time when points are vital to the pride of millions.

That being said, savvy owners looked far ahead and made a trade or free-agent grab based upon the two or three weeks of postseason fun. Put that on a note card next year, bubba.

That doesn’t mean you should have traded Johnson or bench him, but if he’s surrounded with Cardinals (vs. Detroit), Texans (vs. St. Louis), Kansas City’s Jamaal Charles (vs. Browns), some Jets (vs. Falcons) and Broncos (vs. Raiders), you should be armed to the teeth.

Disturbing trends this week included the Patriots’ continuing slide. Forget the loss, Tom Brady is mired in a funk, and Randy Moss has six catches in his past three games combined.

The Cowboys are losing in December — again — but Tony Romo is still putting up fantastic fantasy numbers.

The Redskins are on fire, which is a painful reminder of how strange things can get right about now in your fantasies. Football, of course.
