FRISCO, Colo.—A goat and horse ranch in Summit County is the latest in Colorado to go solar.
The Giberson Ranch, just north of Interstate 70, will produce its own electric power from 42 panels.
The only adjustment the ranch needed was to keep the photovoltaic panels away from the goats. Rancher Ron Alexander says goats are curious and would jump on the panels if they got a chance.
Alexander says the panels will power his home and five other buildings on the ranch.
The installer, Eco Depot of Salida, says ranches, prisons and college campuses across the state are installing solar panels to save on heating costs.
