WASHINGTON — A person familiar with the discussions says federal authorities are considering sending a Guantanamo detainee to face a federal civilian trial in Brooklyn.
Majid Khan is one of fewer than 20 detainees at the detention center labeled high-value by the U.S. government. Khan lived in Baltimore before moving to Pakistan. Counterterrorism officials say he eventually met reputed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
A person familiar with the discussions about Khan said the Justice Department has not made a final decision on whether to put him on trial in federal court in Brooklyn. The person, who requested anonymity, was not authorized to discuss the deliberations. The Associated Press
