is an appropriate name for the rock supergroup consisting of bassist Stefan Lessard (Dave Matthews Band), singer-guitarist Ed Robertson (Barenaked Ladies), singer-guitarist Adam Gardner (Guster) and drummer Eric Fawcett (Spymob), considering the band was put together during a ski/snowboard trip and its namesake is a character in the “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” TV special. It also made sense, then, that the group played Vail’s on Friday as part of the season-opening Vail Snow Daze.
Special guest Dee Snider of Twisted Sister gave a rock lesson on when to use the devil-horns sign, while Warren DeMartini (Ratt) and Gardner (Guster) battled with guitar solos. The sold out show also found supporting member Tyler Stewart (Barenaked Ladies) coming out to sing “Rockin’ in the Free World” as part of a set that included covers of Blue Oyster Cult, AC/DC, Rolling Stones and other rock icons. — Erik Melander
