The pros weren’t the only ones putting on a show at Copper Mountain’s U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix stop Saturday. The postpipe Xbox Jr. Jam was an event of smaller proportion but big talent. Chase Blackwell, 10, from Longmont and 13-year-old Arielle Gold of Steamboat took home an Xbox for winning the slope-and-rail contest.
Progression winners.
Canada’s Jordan Phillips and Hana Beaman of Salt Lake City launched onto the top of the podium for Saturday night’s Paul Mitchell Progression Session at Copper Mountain. Four female and 22 male riders displayed their tricks from the two-story jump leading to a rail slide during the jam session.
Moguls team rolls.
The U.S. freestyle team’s moguls squad was on fire Saturday in Suomu, Finland, as Hannah Kearney of Norwich, Vt., won the women’s World Cup contest. Denver’s Emiko Torito was fourth and Michelle Roark fifth among the women, and Eliza Outtrim of Steamboat was ninth.
