Hogan & Hartson LLP, a Washington, D.C. law firm with a significant presence in Denver, and Lovells, a large law firm based in London, have agreed to merge their operations, the two firms said today.

The combination, described as a merger of equals, is scheduled to be completed by May 1.

The combined firm, to be called Hogan Lovells, will have total revenues of approximately $1.8 billion and 2,500 lawyers in more than 40 offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Energy, financial services, telecommunications, media and technology, life sciences and pharmaceutical, consumer goods, real estate, natural resources, and infrastructure are among the key areas the combined firm will focus on.

Hogan & Hartson’s local manager is former Denver City Attorney Cole Finnegan. The firm is the 7th largest operating in the metro area, based on the number of attorneys.
