ALAMOSA, Colo.—Police say an Alamosa couple were found dead one day after the husband accepted a plea deal in a domestic violence case. Investigators are calling it a murder-suicide.
Authorities say 52-year-old Tommy Martinez and 49-year-old Carmen Martinez were found Thursday in an apartment complex office where Carmen Martinez worked.
Investigators say a handgun was fired, but few details have been released and the circumstances weren’t clear.
Tommy Martinez pleaded guilty on Wednesday to harassment, and prosecutors dropped a domestic violence charge.
He was accused of threatening his wife with a gun on Nov. 10. Police said they took a gun from the apartment as evidence, but they haven’t said whether it was returned to him or whether it was used Thursday.
