ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—The Denver Broncos have promoted rookie cornerback Tony Carter from their practice squad. They waived tackle Herb Taylor, who joined the team Dec. 9 as a free agent.

Carter joined the Broncos from Florida State as a free agent after being bypassed in the NFL draft. He was waived at the end of training camp and spent the first 14 weeks of the season on their practice squad.

The Broncos are dealing with several injuries in their secondary. They lost top reserve safety Darcel McBath for the season to a broken arm last week and are expected to be without starting safety Renaldo Hill (ankle) when they play the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
