Two firefighters were injured in taming a blaze at a home outside Fort Collins on Saturday.

One fire fighter was hurt by falling debris and treated at the scene, the other, with a medical condition exacerbated at the fire, was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

“He was released after only a couple of hours,” said Capt. Patrick Love, a spokesman for Poudre Valley Fire Authority.

The fire, which is being investigated, broke out in a 14,000-square-foot house that is under bank ownership.

No one was in the house at the time.

Firefighters from the Poudre Valley Fire Authority and Wellington Fire Protection District came to the house after an ice fisherman on Douglas Lake reported the fire.

Crews found flames coming from the roof and a wall on the east side of the home.
