Cold and a chance of snow will linger in Denver tonight, with a low of about 7 degrees but wind chill factors as low as minus-7 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Partly sunny skies return to the metro region Saturday as temperatures climb above freezing for the first time since Tuesday, according to the forecast.
Daily highs in Denver are expected to remain in the mid to upper-20s through New Year’s Day, with a slight chance of snow returning on New Year’s Eve.
The High Country remains under a winter weather advisory until 5 a.m. Saturday and could add 3 to 6 inches in some locations this weekend.
Conditions remain poor on the Eastern Plains, where wind gusts up to 55 mph will continue to cause risky driving conditions, according to the National Weather Service. The cold gusts are expected to create wind-chill factors as low as minus-20 degrees on the plains overnight.
Northeast Colorado is expected to receive another 1 to 3 inches tonight.
Road closures because of drifts and ice are possible on the Eastern Plains Saturday, officials warned, urging travelers to check road conditions and to plan ahead for safety.
