An Arvada family lost a pet after the Chow mix plunged through the ice at Lake Arbor near Pomona Drive and Lamar Circle this morning.
The lake is near the Arvada Fire Department’s Station 5, so rescuers were in the water with two minutes of being notified, said department spokesman Scott Pribble.
Onshore, the firefighters put an oxygen mask on the dog and did CPR to revive it. They rushed the dog to a Wheat Ridge animal hospital, where it later expired, Pribble said.
The owners were contacted but their names were not available today.
