COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—Commerce City officials say about 100 people are displaced from their apartment complex after a single frozen pipe split and the building was left without water and electricity.
The American Red Cross set up a shelter at a local middle school for the people forced to leave their apartments on Christmas Day but officials say most residents are staying with friends and family.
Commerce City officials say people in about 40 apartment units were told they had to leave and that they would not be able to return until at least Tuesday as crews work to repair the problem.
Animal control is also helping residents house their pets until they can return to the Highland Legend Apartments.
