As Christmas faded, the week-long Kwanzaa celebration began on Saturday.
Kwanzaa consists of seven days of celebration, featuring activities such as candle-lighting, and culminates with a feast on New Year’s Eve.
Among the week’s activities is the Denver Zoo’s fourth annual Kwanzaa celebration, from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight at the zoo’s Gates Center. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children (those under 2 get in free), available online at or at the gate; call 303-376-4800.
