No. 3 Colorado College was unable to capitalize on its power-play opportunities (0-for-6) as Maine battled back for a 3-2 victory Wednesday night in the Florida College Classic championship game in Estero.
“We had our chances,” Tigers coach Scott Owens said. “We had a power-play chance early (opening 1:51) in the third to get a two-goal lead but couldn’t do it. Maine is too good and too experienced a team to let hang around.”
David Civitarese and Andrew Hamburg scored for CC (12-5-3). Maine goaltender Scott Darling (30 saves) was named tournament MVP.
