CORTEZ — The Cortez Cemetery is apologizing to family members after ornaments, flowers and figurines were removed from grave markers this fall.
Cemetery managers say a volunteer at the cemetery removed the personal items. Cortez residents noticed missing items when visiting the cemetery. Pat Rule said she visited her daughter’s grave on Christmas Day to find a crystal cross and turtle figurine gone. The board president of the Cortez Cemetery apologized and said nothing had been thrown away.
