The Colorado Department of Education has selected a firm to conduct an independent evaluation of the finances and organization of the Cesar Chavez School Network.
Pueblo City Schools and the Charter School Institute are underwriting the costs of the review, which will be conducted by MGT of America.
The review will try to determine whether financial activities among and between the network’s entities were lawful and properly authorized.
MGT of America is a national management-consulting firm with 35 years of experience in improving the operations and accountability of public-sector organizations.
The review will document the financial activities for the July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, fiscal year. It also will examine the detailed financial activities of each of the entities for that fiscal year.
Results are scheduled to be completed and delivered to the Colorado Department of Education no later than May 3, unless an extension of time is approved by the department. Jeremy Meyer, The Denver Post
