FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Police in Colorado have identified three officers involved in a shooting that killed a man accused of kidnapping his former fiancee to Wyoming.
Fort Collins police said Monday that SWAT team members Marcus Hopkins, detective Gar Haugo and Sgt. Dan Murphy are on routine paid leave while the shooting is investigated.
Dennis Cox was killed Friday in a confrontation with police near a bus station in Fort Collins. Authorities had been looking for him after he was suspected of taking Julie Ann Kilgore from Brighton on Dec. 29.
She was found safe in Laramie, Wyo., at a hotel Friday. Laramie police say Cox had checked in to the hotel but fled before officers arrived.
