A search lasted for hours in an Adams County neighborhood Monday night after two people were shot in a home-invasion robbery.
Law enforcement swarmed the neighborhood near Interstate 25 and West 80th Avenue, as an undetermined number of gunmen were reportedly on foot in the area.
Two victims were taken to Denver Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, said Adams County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Candi Baker.
The victims’ names, ages and gender were not released.
The suspects were described only as Hispanic men wearing dark clothing, she said.
Several people were stopped for questioning, but police were still searching the area at 11 p.m. Baker could not immediately confirm if any of those questioned had been implicated in the assault.
Baker said officers would continue the search through most of the night.
“If there are areas that need to be cleared, we won’t stop looking,” she said. “But scaling back the search, at some point we’ll do that.”
The shooting happened in the 7900 block of Mona Court at about 8 p.m.
Streets have been closed and nearby residents were warned by a reverse 9-1-1 call that they should stay indoors while S.W.A.T. officers and police dogs searched the area.
