Two F-15 fighters under the direction of the North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado Springs intercepted Hawaiian Air Flight 39 about 2 p.m. today near Portland, Ore., NORAD reported this afternoon.

Hawaiian Air 39 had left Portland Airport enroute to Hawaii.

According to NORAD, a passenger on the plane caused a disturbance and the pilot decided to return the aircraft to Portland.

After intercepting the airliner, the F-15s escorted the aircraft until it landed without incident at approximately 2:15 p.m. Denver time. The plane landed and was met by local law enforcement.
