DENVER—Charlie Meyers, who covered outdoor sports for The Denver Post for four decades, has died. He was 72.
The newspaper reports that Meyers died Tuesday of lung cancer. The columnist spent decades writing columns about Colorado’s favorite outdoor pursuits—hunting, fishing and skiing.
Meyers was an advocate for nature conservation and wildlife protection. He also covered six Winter Olympics, writing about the early days of American ski racing. Meyers was inducted into the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame in 1993.
Meyers is survived by his wife, Dianna, and two sons. Memorial plans were pending, with relatives asking for donations to Colorado Trout Unlimited instead of flowers.
