The Colorado Department of Education has awarded $9.6 million to 60 schools in 22 school districts to allow them to provide extended learning time before and after school through academic programs and enrichment activities.
Denver Public Schools is getting $2.7 million in the first year to keep 18 schools open longer with programs that will include after-school academics and enrichment, recreation, arts, technology, summer programs and parent education.
In total, DPS will receive $11 million over five years. DPS schools getting the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grants include: Cole Arts & Sciences Academy; Force, Johnson, Colfax, Cowell, Eagleton and Monroe elementaries; Bruce Randolph School; Rachel B. Noel K-8; Place Bridge Academy; and Lake and Skinner middle schools.
