LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska wildlife officials say a new low-cost permit is aimed at attracting young turkey hunters.

Spring turkey hunting permits go on sale Monday, including a new $5 permit available to hunters under age 16.

Adult residents can get a permit for $23, while nonresident adults will pay $90. Nonresident youth permits also sell for $5.

Permit prices for youth and adults were previously the same.

A spring turkey permit allows a hunter to take turkeys with bow and arrow in the archery season and a shotgun in the shotgun season. A person may have up to three spring turkey permits. The bag limit is one male or bearded female turkey per permit.

The archery and youth archery hunting season opens March 25. A youth shotgun season opens April 10.
