Xcel Energy’s 1.4 million residential customers are now able to view their energy use online — a first step in developing a smart grid.
The new Web portal will enable customers to look at their monthly bills and then, using diagnostics on the site, see how different energy-efficiency steps could trim the bill.
Homes in Boulder that already have “smart meters” as part of Xcel’s SmartGridCity project will be able to check energy use daily.
The website — which can be reached through My Account at — was developed by GridPoint Inc., one of Xcel’s partners in the SmartGridCity.
