BOULDER — The FBI says it doesn’t expect anyone to be prosecuted for hacking into the websites of two synagogues in the Boulder area.

Anti-Semitic messages briefly appeared on the sites of the Bonai Shalom and Har HaShem congregations this month. The FBI said the websites were among several in the Boulder area that were hacked in the past week. No one has reported any losses from the hacking.

The FBI said Friday the attacks on the synagogues’ websites originated abroad.

The FBI said that while the hackers’ messages were disturbing, the perpetrators were not believed to pose a physical threat to the community.
